WP1 Property Modification for ore and rock beneficiation

This WP evaluates the rapid separation of various material streams in mines according to their elemental compositions and their mineralogical features. This is done by case studies on exiting mines. Different tasks in this WP includes:

  • the collection of information by on-line analysis and data collection
  • the characterization of ore types for geometallurgical and geopolymer production
  • bulk sorting case studies
  • assessment to complete the proof-of-concept

WP3 Closed water circulation

This WP addresses the water recycle approach. Water needs to be suited to each of the mineral separation stages for optimal performance. As a result of the recirculation, the residence time of water shortens to a few hours and such water would be in thermodynamic and kinetic inequilibrium.

In this WP, different developments are foreseen:

  • Holistic view to identify water quality critical parameters
  • On-line water quality monitoring tools and methodologies
  • Cost-effective water treatment technologies
  • Standardized protocols for design and mangament of water related processes in mine.

WP5 Sustainability

WP5 adresses the sustainability issues and will provide data to feed the life cycle modelling in an interactive process.

In general, the main aspects evaluated in this WP are:

  • The sustainability degree of the new technology combinations.
  • The environmental impact of this new combination of technologies using a life cycle approach.
  • The improvement in social impacts and in safety-related impacts.
  • The cost-effectiveness of the technologies and their combination.
  • The tools to minimize social impacts.
  • The identification of key levers to improve the environmental, cost and social aspects of the combined technologies.
  • The strategic communication of the impacts.

WP7 Clustering

WP5 adresses the sustainability issues and will provide data to feed the life cycle modelling in an interactive process.
